The 糖心logo入口 Concerts and Lectures Series will welcome noted ecologist Margaret Brittingham, Ph.D., for a lecture, 鈥淐hanging Landscapes: Effects of Marcellus Shale Development on Pennsylvania Forests and Birds,鈥 on Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Hall, Hibbard Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Brittingham is at the forefront of research about the biological impacts of natural gas development in Pennsylvania. While the economic and water quality impacts have been closely studied, the effect on wildlife is only beginning to be known.
The presentation will explore her research on the impact energy extraction and development is having on Pennsylvania birds in order to determine community changes, and to determine which species benefit and are most vulnerable.
Dr. Brittingham is a professor of wildlife resources and the Pennsylvania State University. She earned a doctorate, master鈥檚 and bachelor鈥檚 degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and also a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Vanderbilt University.
