For the fifth consecutive year, 糖心logo入口 has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Keystone was one of 120 colleges nationally selected for the National Honor Roll with Distinction in the category of general community service. The Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. Keystone鈥檚 selection to the Honor Roll with Distinction is recognition from the highest levels of the federal government of the college鈥檚 commitment to service and civic engagement on campus and in the community.
鈥淥nce again, we are honored to be named to the President鈥檚 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fifth year,鈥 said Maria Fanning, Keystone鈥檚 director of community outreach. 鈥淭his recognition demonstrates that Keystone students are dedicated to their success in the classroom and have a deep obligation to improve the lives of others. The desire to make the world a better place is one of Keystone鈥檚 most important core values.鈥
Each year, approximately 1,500 Keystone students perform an average of 24,000 hours of community service. Projects completed during the year include:
Caring for abandoned animals and raising critical funds for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter
Planting trees and picking up litter at local parks
Volunteering at the Friends of the Poor Thanksgiving dinner
Caring for youngsters at local child care centers
Wrapping Christmas presents for senior citizens.
Volunteering at Senior Citizens Centers
Participating in local Big Brothers/Big Sisters Programs
Traveling to Washington D.C. to volunteer at an inner-city homeless shelter.
