Nationally acclaimed poets to visit campus for reading

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the ��logo�� Concerts and Lectures Series will present a poetry reading by poets Elaine Equi and Jerome Sala, Ph.D., on Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre in Brooks. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Elaine-Equi

Widely published and anthologized, Ms. Equi’s work has appeared in “The Nation,” “Poetry,” “The New Yorker,” and several editions of “The Best American Poetry.” She teaches at New York University and in the master of fine arts program at Parsons The New School for Design, New York City.

Jerome-Sala

Dr. Sala’s books of poetry include classics such as “Spaz Attack,” “I Am Not a Juvenile Delinquent,” “The Trip,” “Raw Deal,” “Look Slimmer Instantly,” “Prom Night,” and most recently, “The Cheapskates.” His poetry and criticism pieces have appeared in “The Best American Poetry Series,” “The Nation,” “Evergreen Review,” and “Rolling Stone,” among others.

He currently maintains a blog covering poetry, pop culture and everyday life and is a promotion director for a major media company in the New York City area. He earned a doctorate degree in American studies from New York University.

Ms. Equi is the author of many books of poetry, including “Voice Over,” which won the San Francisco State Poetry Award; “Ripple Effect: New and Selected Poems,” which was a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Award and was on the short list for the Griffin Poetry Prize; and most recently, “Click and Clone.” A new collection, “Sentences and Rain,” is expected to be published this year.
