In celebration of National Poetry Month, the 糖心logo入口 Concerts and Lectures Series will present a poetry reading by poets Elaine Equi and Jerome Sala, Ph.D., on Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre in Brooks. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Elaine-Equi

Widely published and anthologized, Ms. Equi鈥檚 work has appeared in 鈥淭he Nation,鈥 鈥淧oetry,鈥 鈥淭he New Yorker,鈥 and several editions of 鈥淭he Best American Poetry.鈥 She teaches at New York University and in the master of fine arts program at Parsons The New School for Design, New York City.

Jerome-Sala

Dr. Sala鈥檚 books of poetry include classics such as 鈥淪paz Attack,鈥 鈥淚 Am Not a Juvenile Delinquent,鈥 鈥淭he Trip,鈥 鈥淩aw Deal,鈥 鈥淟ook Slimmer Instantly,鈥 鈥淧rom Night,鈥 and most recently, 鈥淭he Cheapskates.鈥 His poetry and criticism pieces have appeared in 鈥淭he Best American Poetry Series,鈥 鈥淭he Nation,鈥 鈥淓vergreen Review,鈥 and 鈥淩olling Stone,鈥 among others.

He currently maintains a blog covering poetry, pop culture and everyday life and is a promotion director for a major media company in the New York City area. He earned a doctorate degree in American studies from New York University.

Ms. Equi is the author of many books of poetry, including 鈥淰oice Over,鈥 which won the San Francisco State Poetry Award; 鈥淩ipple Effect: New and Selected Poems,鈥 which was a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Award and was on the short list for the Griffin Poetry Prize; and most recently, 鈥淐lick and Clone.鈥 A new collection, 鈥淪entences and Rain,鈥 is expected to be published this year.
