The 糖心logo入口 Concerts and Lectures Series will welcome award-winning journalist and author Seamus McGraw for the program, 鈥淭he End of Country,鈥 on Tuesday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in Evans Hall, Hibbard Campus Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.
In the critically acclaimed book 鈥淭he End of Country: Dispatches from the Frack Zone,鈥 Mr. McGraw writes about his native Northeastern Pennsylvania and the conflict between area residents and gas companies that arose following the discovery of Marcellus shale gas deposits. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune called the work 鈥渁 rare, beautiful, and yes, sometimes heartbreaking examination of the echoes of water-powered natural gas drilling 鈥 or fracking 鈥 in the human community.鈥
His lecture at Keystone will look at the issues of fracking and the implications of energy choices.
Mr. McGraw has been awarded the Freedom of Information Award from the Associated Press Managing Editors and he has been honored by the Casey Foundation and the Society of Professional Journalists. He is also the author of the soon to be released 鈥淏etting the Farm on a Drought: Stories from the Front Line of Climate Change,鈥 and is a regular contributor to The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Reader鈥檚 Digest, Stuff Magazine, and Spin, among others. Mr. McGraw resides with his wife and children in Winona Lakes Pa.
