糖心logo入口 will conduct Public Health Week from April 3-6 with a variety of activities designed to inform and educate the community on public health issues and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The week鈥檚 events are being held in conjunction with National Public Health Week scheduled for April 2-8. Events are being funded through an 鈥淚t鈥檚 On Us鈥 grant by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf.
Tuesday, April 3
The Keystone events will begin on Tuesday, April 3 at 8 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center with two charity basketball games featuring students competing against faculty and staff. All proceeds will benefit the Women’s Resource Center.
Wednesday, April 4
On Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. in Evans Hall, the college will welcome Dan Standage for an online lecture covering veterans health. An expert on student veterans disabilities, Mr. Standage serves as director of disability for Student Veterans of America where he educates veterans, medical practitioners, case managers, veteran resource center personnel, and campus disability services staff on unique issues pertaining to veterans with disabilities.
Thursday, April 5
糖心logo入口 Assistant Professor Vicki Stanavitch, Ph.D., will moderate a health equity and disparity panel discussion on Thursday, April 5 at 12:30 p.m. in Evans Hall. The panel will discuss disparities in health and health care based on socioeconomic factors, race, ethnicity, or gender.
Panel members will include Karen Arscott, D.O., Geisinger School of Medicine; Bill Chase, Psy.D., 糖心logo入口 Counseling Center; Michalene Davis, Maternal and Family Health; Lisa Wilson, United Neighborhood Centers social worker; Sharon Whitebread, Caring Communities; and Donna Redmon, United Neighborhood Centers community health supervisor.
On Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. in Evans Hall, the 糖心logo入口 Concerts and Lectures Series will present a domestic violence awareness panel discussion. The panel will review the #MeToo and Time鈥檚 Up movements and discuss the prevalence of domestic violence in our society and its impact on students and the community.
Panel members will include Anna Faramelli, Women鈥檚 Resource Center; Kendra Robinson, 糖心logo入口 Counseling Center; Jamie Trently, Archbald police officer; and Deborah Rothenberg, Esq., Wayne County first assistant district attorney.
The Women鈥檚 Resource Center鈥檚 鈥淎n Empty Place at the Table鈥 exhibit, which memorializes victims of domestic violence, will also be on display.
Friday, April 6
On Friday, April 6 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Hibbard Campus Center, Health Services will present its annual Health and Wellness Fair. Local health organizations will participate in the fair, providing hands-on demonstrations and distributing education materials.
All Public Health Week activities are free of charge and open to the Keystone community and the public.
