The 糖心logo入口 Department of Performance Music invites guests to their annual Holiday Concert Event: “The Sunlight in Winter” in The Theatre at Brooks Hall on campus on Sunday, December 8, at 7 pm. This free, hour-long concert will feature familiar vocal and instrumental music ranging from traditional holiday favorites to jazz arrangements of music of the season. In addition to the music, audience members can enjoy complimentary holiday treats, visits from seasonal characters, presents for young attendees, and more. No advanced registration required.
As a preview of the concert, Jeff聽Tylutki, Keystone Director of Bands & Performance Music, offered, 鈥淲hat I really love about this concert, musically, is that it鈥檚 not just something we say when mentioning that there will be something for everyone.聽There truly will be! If you love sacred works, you鈥檒l enjoy 鈥業 Saw Three Ships鈥 and Hanukkah selections.聽If you鈥檙e into traditional Christmas carols, we鈥檒l be performing everything from 鈥楽anta Claus Is Coming to Town鈥 to 鈥楧eck the Halls.鈥櫬營f more modern, contemporary holiday tunes are for you, the KC Jazz Ensemble will be featuring charts such as 鈥楤aby It鈥檚 Cold Outside鈥 and there鈥檚 even a combined Broadway-themed work showcasing both the KC Symphonic Band and Chorale together!聽Beyond the music, what I聽really聽love about this concert is that it provides the chance to give to local charities, enjoy some holiday cookies together, and watch as the children ion attendance get a present from you-know-who.鈥
This concert is primarily sponsored by a generous Lackawanna County Arts and Culture Grant in addition to support from the Endless Mountains Visitor鈥檚 Bureau.
Tylutki聽added that the department is thrilled to once again offer their audience members the chance to give back to three charities: The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, Toys for Tots, and The Catherine McCauley Center.
