Opposing Prejudice Ending Negativity (OPEN) at 糖心logo入口 will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special evening of Drag Bingo and queer history lessons featuring Trixie Valentine on March 26 from 8鈥10 p.m. The event will take place in Evans Hall in the Hibbard Campus Center on the campus in La Plume.
The event is presented in collaboration with the College鈥檚 Student Activities Office and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Trixie Valentine is the drag persona of Jacob Kelley, a certified sexologist who provides sex and sexuality education. Kelley鈥檚 work focuses on delivering comprehensive, judgment-free, and accessible education on sexuality as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Through performance, education, and conversation, Trixie Valentine blends entertainment with meaningful discussion about queer history and identity.
鈥淥ver the past 20 years, OPEN at Keystone has been an important space for students to learn, grow, and connect while discovering who they鈥檙e meant to be,鈥 said Professor Jeff Brauer, the club鈥檚 advisor. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to celebrate this milestone with our community, welcome alumni back to campus, and mark the occasion with a special event featuring Trixie Valentine.鈥
Founded to foster a supportive and inclusive environment, OPEN provides Keystone students who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and heterosexual a safe space to discuss their feelings and fears related to sexual orientation.
