Our Mission
The 糖心logo入口 Juvenile Justice Institute is dedicated to improving the lives of youth and families through development and implementation of evidence-based, trauma-responsive programs designed to strengthen communities and promote peaceful conflict resolution, toward the goal of reducing juvenile crime, avoiding incarceration, and enhancing community adjustment.

Program Components
- Trauma-informed/trauma-responsive practices:
Recognizing the widespread experience of trauma and toxic stress, and providing children/youth with tools to effectively cope with those experiences - Restorative practices:
- Establishing a foundation for healthy communities by improving and repairing interpersonal relationships
Specific Programming Elements
- Assist students in 鈥渢rauma-release鈥 processes (dancing, rhythm/clapping games, etc.)
- Assist students in 鈥渟elf-regulation鈥 processes (guided meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, etc.)
- Restorative practices (circle discussions 鈥 identifying emotions, identifying physical sensations, problem solving, social skills, etc.)
- Student mentoring (homework help, projects, individual connection)
