Malaysia BryantÌý– KeystoneÌýCollege Athletics

Student Name: Malaysia BryantÌý
Major/Program: Sport and Recreation ManagementÌý
InternshipÌýSite: ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú AthleticsÌý
Role/Title:ÌýTeam Manager & Assistant Sports Information DirectorÌý
Semester/Year:ÌýFall Semester 2025Ìý
Anticipated graduation date:ÌýDecember 2025Ìý

I learned the significance of communication and structure to the successful functioning of athletic programs throughout my internships. Whether handling team equipment or planning game-day operations,ÌýremainingÌýorganized allowed me toÌýanticipateÌýrequirements and prevent mistakes. I also learned how vital teamwork is—every staff member and athleteÌýrelyÌýon one other toÌýaccomplishÌýsuccess. This encounter boosted my confidence in my capacity to guide andÌýassistÌýpeople under pressure.Ìý

Before starting, IÌýdidn’tÌýknow how much behind-the-scenes work goes into practices and games. Every little activity, from setting up the court to creating statistics and publishing updates, helps the team succeed. I also discovered how much preparation and attention toÌýdetail are necessary on both the administrative and coaching fronts. This helped me understand how difficult and time-consuming it is to successfully manage an athletic program.Ìý

Managing several tasks during game days, such setting up equipment,ÌýassistingÌýwith statistics, and supporting coaches at the same time was one of the challenges IÌýencountered. At first, it was overwhelming to prioritize work under time pressure. I made checklists, showed up early, and hadÌýgood communicationÌýwith coworkers and staff to get around the issue. I was able to finish chores effectively by being composed and structured. This event taught me essential facts about time management, adaptation, and staying composed of stress.Ìý

ÌýHelping plan a themed game night when the team and supporters took part in a pajama event was one enjoyable and unforgettable aspect of my internship. I got toÌýobserveÌýhow enthusiastic the audience was, help with music and announcements, and aid with setting up decorations. It was fantastic to watch the squad, fans, and staff come together in an exciting environment, which made all theÌýhard workÌýbehind the scenes feel worthwhile.Ìý

ÌýMy recommendation for future interns is to stay proactive and communicate properly.ÌýDon’tÌýwait to be told what to do, look for ways to help andÌýanticipateÌýthe team’sÌýrequirements. Also, keep organized and use checklists, especially during practices and game days, to make sure nothing is overlooked. Finally,ÌýbeÌýready to adjust and learn quickly every day is different, and flexibility is crucial to success in athletic operations.Ìý
